Whether we like it or not, some of us have oily hair and keeping it from becoming greasy the second day after we have thoroughly washed it can offer a challenge. But despair not. We are going to discuss some homemade hair treatments, which will hopefully help you keep your hair from becoming too greasy. Let’s check those treatments out!
Treatment #1: Astringent
Astringents are great for removing oil from your scalp. Astringent mixes are also not very difficult to make. Witch hazel has been proven to be a wonderful astringent. This is why the mixture of witch hazel and mouthwash is a recommended treatment for oily hair. Leave the mixture sit on your scalp for 15 minutes, then rinse it with warm water.
Treatment #2: Homemade Aloe Vera Shampoo
There are hundreds of shampoos out there recommended for greasy hair. However, the majority of these shampoos do not always work. One thing that we can do, is to make shampoo ourselves! Take a cup of your favorite shampoo and add one tablespoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of aloe vera gel. Wash your hair with the mixture. If you are planning to use the mixture again, keep it in the fridge so that it will retain all its important qualities.
Treatment #3: Baby Powder
Appling baby powder to your head may sound weird, but believe us, it is helpful, especially when you are in a hurry. Sprinkle a little baby powder on your locks and brush it through your hair. It will not only remove the excess oil, but will also make your hair smell good. Note that this treatment works best if you have lighter hair.
Treatment #4: Mask Made of Egg Yolks and Lemon
It is no news that egg yolk, being rich in proteins, is great for your hair. Mix two egg yolks with 5 drops of lemon juice (lemon in general is great for removing excess oil) and apply it to your wet locks. Leave it on for 10 minutes, rinse it off.
At times, hair products can be quite expensive. These tried and tested treatments are both cheap and natural. They are not very time-consuming either, so why not try them out?
